Nissan Patrol Ford Maverick Petrol Engines 1988 - 1997 Repair Manual covers: Patrol DX,RX, ST, TI & Ford Maverick XL, XLT, Wagon, Hardtop, Utility Cab Chassis 3.0 Litre and 4.2 Litre
This Gregory's Service and Repair manual covers the Japanese built Nissan GQ Patrol and Ford DA Maverick introduced from early 1988, available in short wheelbase hardtop and long wheelbase station wagon models. A cab chassis model is included in the Patrol range.
The Patrols are available in the following equipment level variants: DX and ST hardtops and DX, ST, Ti and 3.0 litre station wagons. The cab chassis is available in one variant only. The Mavericks are available in the following equipment level variants: XL and XLT hardtops and standard and XL station wagons. All models, apart from the 3.0 litre Patrol, are equipped with a 4.2 litre petrol engine with a contact points ignition system and a vacuum assisted clutch. The 3.0 litre Patrol has electronic ignition and a non assisted clutch.
Either a five speed manual or four speed automatic transmission is coupled to a two speed transfer case and drive is transmitted to the rear wheels through either conventional, limited slip or locking differentials. Drive to the front wheels is via a conventional differential and freewheeling hubs.
All hardtop and station wagon models are equipped with coil spring suspension and the cab chassis model with leaf spring suspension. Some models have an adjustable rear stabiliser bar to permit increased suspension travel. Power steering is standard throughout the range. The vacuum assisted brake system uses ventilated front disc brakes with either disc or drum brakes at the rear.
This manual includes information on trouble shooting, lubrication and maintenance, specifications and the removal, installation and overhaul of components which are considered to be within the scope of the average, well equipped home mechanic.
Certain repair jobs covered in this manual require the use of special equipment not normally found in a home tool kit. When such equipment is required, the equipment and its function is brought to the users attention underneath the heading for that component. Some jobs such as automatic transmission overhaul, should be left to an authorised dealer or a specialist who has the extensive knowledge and equipment required. In these cases, the removal and installation procedures are fully covered, enabling the unit to be removed for repair or a reconditioned unit to be installed. |
