Reviews of the book by Karl Ludvigsen

Submited By: Erik Doosje from Netherlands on 15/05/2010
Ordered this book from the other side of the world, and received it within one week.

Karl Ludvigsen gives an enormous amount of detail on the engines described, and shows a clear development in racing engine design throughout 3/4 of a century. New insights are seen to propagate into designs of other manufacturers as designers switch employers. Not only the success stories (e.g. Ford V8 DFV) but also failures and disappointments (e.g. BRM V16 and H16) are explained in detail. The designs shown evolve to a common design philosophy that is still valid for today's designs.

If you're interested in more than pretty pictures of racing cars crossing the finish line and have a technical background in engineering, then this book is an investment you won't regret. Highly recommended.

regards,
Erik Doosje
