Foreword
Lindsay Porter's excellent MGB — A Guide to Purchase and D.I.Y. Restoration was the MG Owners' Club best seller in 1982/3 with over four thousand copies sold to Club members alone. Now the Club's Sprite and Midget members can consider undertaking repairs and restorations of their cars with expert help from this highly accomplished author.
Until recently, the Sprites and Midgets enjoyed the ownership of the young hearted who wished for economical open topped sports car motoring in a car relatively cheap and easy to maintain. Now, as the models become rarer, many of the owners have found that they cannot replace them with any other car which can give so much pleasure for so little cost and that's why present day Sprite and Midget owners are so keen to maintain their cars in good condition for as long as possible. Anyone contemplating the purchase and maintenance of a Sprite or Midget should certainly read this book carefully and any owner wishing to restore a model to first class condition will find this book invaluable.
The MG Owners' Club, currently serving forty thousand members, has an extremely large following of Sprite and Midget owners. Our task in helping these members in maintaining their cars in good condition and at reasonable cost is greatly assisted by this book.
