Introduction to the Nissan Pulsar and Holden Astra
These vehicles are available in four-door hatchback and sedan body styles. The transversely-mounted inline four-cylinder engines used in these models are all equipped with fuel injection. The engine drives the front wheels through a five-speed manual or a three-speed automatic transmission. Independent suspension, featuring MacPherson struts with coil springs and integral shock absorbers, is used at all four wheels. The rack and pinion steering gear is mounted behind the engine, and power steering is available on some models.
Front disc brakes are fitted to all models, and the rear brakes may be of drum or disc type. The engine compartment is well-designed, and most of the items requiring frequent attention are easily accessible. |
