Looking After Mini is a hands-on practical book with a difference. It is not a workshop manual, nor is it a restoration manual. Instead, it is a distillation of Ted Connolly's experience of over 30 years of living with a Mini, during which time he has owned 12 cars, built or rebuilt dozens more of them and accumulated sometimes the hard way, a fountain of knowledge of how to (and occasionally how not to) maintain and restore them and keep them in the best possible working order.
The author, who stresses that every serious Mini owner's first task should be to arm themselves with a proper workshop manual, says that this is a book which should be read alongside it. With its easily flowing text, it guides the reader through the routines of inspection, purchase, maintenance, repair, renovation and improvement; it reveals the techniques he has honed over his long career as a 'Mini doctor'; and it describes the necessary DIY and TLC skills the Mini owner is most likely to need in order to prolong their car's good health and active life and their sheer enjoyment of owning it.
As the classic Mini grows older, so is it held in ever-increasing affection, and in sharing his skills and experiences with other Mini enthusiasts, the author offers this book as his personal tribute to an automotive icon. |
