Introduction to the Audi

The 'new' Audi 80 was introduced at the 1986 Motor Show, and features a fully-galvanised body, energy-absorbing crumple zones, a new five-speed gearbox, a new ventilation and heating system, and a high level of instrumentation. Audi 80 models are fitted with four-cylinder carburettor or fuel injection engines.

The 'new' Audi 90 was introduced in July 1987, and features as standard equipment power steering, high-quality upholstery, electrically-operated windows and door mirrors, central locking, tinted glass, a four-speaker stereo radio/cassette unit, front foglights and an auto-check system. The 2.2/2.3E has alloy wheels, sports seats and a rear spoiler.

The 'new' Audi Coupe was introduced in December 1988, and features a zinc-galvanised body, the option of a cable-operated safety system called 'Procon-Ten', split-folding rear seats, and on later models, a 20-valve engine, equipped with a catalytic converter.
