Description

Vintage Sports-Car Club Private publication - Every Issue from March 1956 to the Final Issue in 1967 - With two duplicates - in excellent condition !

This. bulletin is presented to the members of the Section- as an experiment, as I have thought for a long time something of the sort would be welcome, the first issue anyway is free ! but the cost as a regular quarterly feature is a bit of a problem, as the section funds at the moment cannot run to it, the membership being not much over a hundred at the time of writing, but anyhow a very encouraging start.

I am 'afraid this issue may be a little dull, and as this is my first venture into this kind of thing, cannot hope to emulate such exponents of the art as our President, Ronald Barker and the present editor of the Club bulletin ! and it is difficult to know the kind of reading matter that is wanted but no doubt we shall get ideas on this subject if members decide it is worth continuing with this first effort, and we can find some way of making it reasonably self supporting. Photographs although padding are expensive unfortunately, and so are drawings and cartoons, but it is hoped to include these from time to time.

This seems a good opportunity for me to apologise to those members of the section who think they have had a raw deal during a fine summer for holding our one and only meeting on the wettest day of all, and only providing a part event at Madresfield. It is, however, virtually impossible to get any hotel to play ball at a weekend from May to September, and I would like to take this opportunity of acknowledging the very :treat help given by Doctor Williamson, who has spent many hours and motormiles on this matter.

Midland and Northern members will appreciate there is a big concentration in the South and the section would undoubtedly be grateful if some enthusiastic type in the North would run a meeting to cater for them.

At the moment the section is running on somewhat carefree lines. there brine no properly constituted committee, this being nominally at the moment. Williamson, S. C. Johnson of Alresford and myself. Johnson has cheerfully taken on the job of Treasurer and I hope I may persuaded him to take on the Secretaryship as well, unless there are any cuter applicants ! as I feel I cannot do justice to both jobs, that is if the Bulletin ts to continue. I feel sure there is no need to ask for criticisms! "Tsai if anti when they come, they will be duly noted ! and I must be from answerine letters as I now have no personal secretary. As tarpTt.Ie I shall try not to print stale jokes and only give authentic....
