Authors: Doug Wallace and Michele Cook, Hardbound, 400 Pages, ISBN: 9781742577081 -- Published in 2016, 2nd hand book in acceptable condition

This book chronicles the 88 years in which Ford built cars in Australia for Australian conditions and interviews many of the people who worked for the company. It constitutes the complete history of Ford production in this country, with many rare images and essential production statistics. The perfect book for every Ford enthusiast, or anyone with an affinity for cars or industrial Australia

On March 31, 1925, US manufacturer Ford announced that Geelong would be the Australian headquarters of its local production. The first Australian-built Ford was a Model T that came off an improvised production line in a disused Geelong woolstore in June 1925, while work started on a factory in the nearby suburb of Norlane.

In 1928 the factory switched to the Model A and was followed by the Ford V8 in 1932. In 1956 the company bought a large tract of land in the northern Melbourne suburb of Broadmeadows, and in July 1961 announced that the new Melbourne factory would become the company headquarters. On the 23 May 2013, Ford announced that its factories in Geelong and Broadmeadows would be closed down in October 2016.

This book chronicles the 88 years in which Ford built cars in Australia for Australian conditions and interviews many of the people who worked for the company. Great seller. Great item. Highly recommended.

Items came in great condition. Shipping was super fast. Delivery was fast.
My only complaint is on high shipping costs. Item value vas EUR55.66 and shipping vas EUR71.39.

My suggestion is that maybe seller could investigate if there are any cheaper shipping options to Europe.
In the end, for those who can cope with high shipping cost, highly recommended seller. I would definitely buy again.

Great book but.....

Presentation and packaging is excellent. There was too much emphasis on the Falcon (which I can understand), and very little on other Ford vehicles. The book that I bought some years ago on the Holden was exactly what I was looking for; many color photos of all Holden vehicles, specifications, etc.

Ford Australia ''The Cars and the People Who Built Them

This is a thick & handsome book with many photos & informative text. It does contain many small errors with dates & of placing photos not in the era being discussed. There is a great picture shown of the striking Australia only Model A colours but no explanation
provided. If only the text sections could be proof read by people who know their Ford models & history.
Some of the early car photos show US type LHD models which would have been better if RHD Australian produced [of which many photos do exist] but in saying, there are a very good range of local historical photos as well. I have only looked closely at the era 1925- 50 which is my interest on Ford Australia.
Overall, a very good book to have on Ford Australia.

Ford Australia: The Cars and the People That Built Them

After two months and eleven days I finally received my new book! It looks like a nice comprehensive book on Ford in Australia. It just takes a long time to get a book to Florida from Australia.

Great book, but some sloppy errors and "lazy" photos.

7/10. Be aware that many photos are simply those taken from the brochures, so we have seen much of them already. There are also quite a number of errors throughout, which does tend to indicate lazy research.

Interesting history

Bought this book for a family member who has just purchased an XR8 Sprint. He has read through the first half of the book quite quickly. The early history of Ford Australia is very interesting. The book covers the history of various characters involved in bringing Fords to Australia, some moving the operation ahead, some costing it a lot. It also at least touches upon the various negotiations with government to help fund an Aussie car industry. Many things happened in that early history that one would not expect, making for an interesting account. Also of course the book covers the history of the mighty Falcon, and the changes that the Aussies made from the very outset to make the Aussie Falcon a substantially better car than the US Falcon it was originally derived from.

The later history of Ford he has not read yet, but for that early history alone its worth 4 stars. The book is also very well presented, and makes an excellent gift.

Ford Australia: The Cars and the People who built them.

This is an excellent book, which has been well researched and well put together. The already well known history of Ford Australia is interspersed with lots of anecdotes from employees, giving an insight into the Ford Australia working experience. Apart from more photos being included (l know they culled 6,000 photos down to 600), the only downside to this wonderful book, is the minor errors which can crop up in books of this magnitude. For example, the authors state that the 1932 Ford vehicles were titled Model B (4 cyl) and Model B18 (V8), whereas in reality the V8 was titled Model 18. This error is repeated throughout the book.
Overall though, this is a magnificent addition to the library of any automotive enthusiast.
