Synopsis

All car enthusiasts know about the Shelby Mustangs, but what really separated them from their production-line relatives? What really makes a Shelby a Shelby? This new book from Shelby American Auto Club (SAAC) historian and registrar Greg Kolasa separates fact from fiction, and details the specifics on performance and appearance alterations with both descriptive text and superb photographs.

In addition to his firsthand knowledge, author Greg Kolasa relies heavily on factory documentation and interviews with Shelby American designers, engineers, stylists, fabricators, and race drivers to get the true, as-it-happened story of these phenomenal pony cars. Additionally, the cars shown in this book were chosen for their historical and technical correctness.

About the Author

A native New Jerseyan, Greg Kolasa's interest in the Shelby Mustangs turned to full-fledged obsession just after he purchased a 1966 GT350H in 1982. A nationally recognized expert on those cars, he was a contributing registrar/author to the several printed editions of the Registry.

He has contributed Shelby Mustang expertise to Car and Driver, Autoweek, and Automobile Quarterly magazines and also is a frequent contributor (with several Shelby Mustang models) to Fine Scale Modeler. He is an advisor to the NADA Classic, Collectible, Exotic and Muscle Car Appraisal Guide and also wears a second registrar's hat, that of the GT40 Registrar. He is an internationally recognized authority on the GT40 and he has provided historical consultation on several GT40 restoration and research projects; he is the co-author of the 1,600-page World Registry of Cobras and GT40s.
