Introduction to the Toyota Corolla
The Toyota Corolla models covered by this workshop manual are four-door sedans and five-door hatchbacks.
The transversely-mounted 1.8 litre 2ZRFE inline four-cylinder engine used in these vehicles is equipped with electronic fuel injecbon.
Two models are covered in this manual, the ZRE-152R model runs from 2007 through to September 2012. From October 2012, the ZRE-182R models were released.
Both models shared the same engine, with the addition of the acoustic control induction system (ACIS) introduced with the ZRE182R model.
Choice of transaxle is either a five-speed manual, a four-speed automatic (ZRE-152R models). or a seven-speed CVT (ZRE-182R). Independent driveaxles transmit drive to the front wheels.
Independent suspension, featuring coil spring/strut damper units. is used on the front of the vehicle.
The rack-and-pinion steering unit is mounted behind the engine with electronic power-assist. The rear suspension uses coil-over shock absorber assemblies, connected to a pressed-steel beam-type axle.
The brakes are disc at the front and rear, with power-assistance.
An anti-lock brake system (ABS) is available on all models, with optional electronic brake distribution (EBD) for better traction and handling.
