- Foreword by Bernie Ecclestone

Tyler Alexander, a very improper Bostonian. is McLaren's crew chief. Alexander got involved with racing cars because he liked to take pictures of them, and is the only man who can talk back to Bruce McLaren and consistently get away with it.
 Kim Chapin,Sports Illustrated (1968) . . ,

Tyler Alexander has not changed much since he first joined the McLaren team as a twentyfour-year-old in 1964. He still has a passion for cleanliness on the workshop floor, and either works on the cars in a white shop coat, or in jeans and a jersey and a scuffed pair of handmade Italian Gucci shoes.
Eoin Young, from Bruce McLaren.. The Man and His Racing Team (1970)

Tyler, as usual, works continuously ... Even though he is always talking about going somewhere for a vacation. he takes almost no time off. He is as loyal to the team as anyone on it. He's so conscientious that his job come before his own personal considerations—no
matter how important they might be.

Peter Revson, from Speed with Style: TheAutobiography of Peter Revson

He was in at the very birth of one of the greatest Formula One teams of all time, and he was still there when it was winning its 162nd grand prix and its 19th world title ... He has been mechanic, engineer. team manager, trusted lieutenant. and general factotum, not just in Fl but also in Indy car and in Can-Am.
Simon Taylor, Motorsport, 2013

Born in Hingham. Massachusetts. in 1940. Tyler Alexander became interested in cars during his teens. After working for the Rev-Ern and Mocom racing teams. in 1964 Alexander became a founding member of Bruce McLaren Motor Racing. He went on to lead McLaren's Indy car program. which produced victories at the Indianapolis 500 for Johnny Rutherford in 1974 and 1976.
In 1983 Alexander joined Teddy Mayer at his new Mayer Motor Racing Indy car team. This later led to the launch of Carl Haas's Formula One Race Car Engineering (FORCE) team. which Alexander helped manage before returning to Indy cars with Newman/Haas Racing in 1987. In 1990 Alexander rejoined Ron Dennis's McLaren International as special projects manager. serving in a variety
of technical and management roles until his retirement in 2009.
