Description

Publisher: Mitch Mayborn, Archivist: Ted W. Mayborn, Softbound, ISBN: 9780913490044 - Revised Second Edition, 1974 - **Second-Hand book in good condition**

IN THE EARLY forties a battle took place. Not in history books and unrelated to World War II, this was a unique automotive dispute between two General Motors giants ... Buick and Cadillac. Buick was building cars which were too good. too plush. and were converting Cadillac owners to Buick buyers. Cadillac didn't like it and they won out. The luxurious Limiteds were dropped from the Buick line in 1942.

This story only serves to illustrate that Buick has been building quality automobiles since 1903. But Buick excellence has been available in all price ranges. For example, in 1941 you could buy a Buick for little more than a Ford of Chevy or as much as a Cadillac model 75.
David D. Buick's company became the cornerstone of what was to become the monolith corporation we know today as General Motors. So as you view the following pages. know that you are reliving an important part of automotive history. And remember the slogan that became a legend

WHEN BETTER AUTOMOBILES ARE MADE, BUICK WILL BUILD THEM.
