Description

Author: Jeremy Walton, Hardbound, 311 Pages, ISBN: 9780854295487, This Edition Published in 1987 * Second-Hand book in excellent unread condition !*

It now goes without saying that the Capri has a well deserved place in the story of motoring.

Its design allowed it to be any kind of car that the owner wanted in many cases far more than just a handsome family coupe.

Over its long life an honourable competition history has been established in road, rally and track racing, all of which is detailed in Jeremy Walton's very thoroughly researched book.

Included is much information that has not been published elsewhere at any time. The comprehensively documented evolution of the road cars forms a complementary foil to the Capri's great success in motorsport.

No matter how the Capri was used it was always thought of as a good value, pound for power car. It will always be regarded as a classic, the last vehicle now having been built. Jeremy Walton has recorded it all.

Capri, development & competition history of Ford's European GT car was Jeremy Walton's fifth book and has been sold in hardback and paperback since 1981.

This updated edition follows the same author's work on two other successful Haynes/GT Foulis titles: Audi Quattro, published in 1984, and the comprehensive Escort 1,2 & 3.

Born in July 1946, Jeremy Walton has lived and worked from Henley-on-Thames (his birthplace) since the seventies.

After spells working in a garage and on a farm in the Somerset village locality that is HQ for Haynes GT Foulis Group, "J.W." moved up to London to be trained as a journalist. His earliest stories concerned poultry farming and there are those who feel this earthiness has not entirely deserted him today ...

From 1967 onward. Jeremy concentrated on performance motoring, working as staff journalist on Cars & Car Conversions, Motoring News and Motor Sport.

Since 1987 Jeremy Walton has run a freelance business from home. By 1987 he had written 16 books, editing and translating others. JW was contributing to six magazines regularly, including Petformance Car as well as retaining old loyalties in work for Motoring News, Motor Sport and Cars & Car Conversions.

Jeremy's special interest in performance Fords was developed by racing Capris and Escorts extensively. Finally he worked for both Ford Advanced Vehicle Operations and Ford Competitions as the press officer from 1972-75.

The Capri played a particular part in his life as road transport in all its guises. Jeremy has tested most V6 production Capris, also exceeding 20,000 miles in a 1969 1600GT and a 1979 2.0 GL. He completed the European Championship 24 hour race at Spa-Francorchamps in a 3-litre.
