Description

  • Maximize Traction,
  • Learn proper suspension geometry.
  • Covers GM, Ford and Chrysler suspensions.
  • How to fine tune your car's launch.
  • Minimize 60-foot times.

The key to successful drag racing is the car's ability to ccelerate as quickly as possible from a standing start. Transferring a maximum amount of the engine's power to the rear tires is absolutely crucial for success. Maximizing the vehicle's suspension design and adjustment to effectively plant the rear tires is a coordinated effort that varies depending on the basic design of the components, the horsepower level of the engine, the type of transmission, the type and size of the tire being used, and many other contributing factors.

In How to Hook and Launch, author and championship-winning drag racer Dick Miller explains, investigates, and demystifies all of the critical factors affecting the quest for traction in traditional American front-engine, rear-wheeldrive 'vehicles. The various types of front and rear suspension used on all makes of domestic vehicles are all explored. Miller also goes into great detail about how to maximize the drag strip launch potential in each of these, and explains how their varying designs impact the launch potential. If you're interested in optimizing your car's capability at the drag strip, this book is for you
