Description

Author: Nick Brittan, Hardbound, 158 Pages, ISBN: 9780900549007*First Edition, 1969* Second-Hand book in excellent condition !

Ninety-eight cars and their crews set out on a sunny Sunday afternoon in November from the Crystal Palace motor racing circuit in the South of London.

Twenty-three days and over 10,000 miles later, 56 of them arrived at another race circuit—Warwick Farm, on the outskirts of Sydney, Australia. They were the survivors of the first London-Sydney Marathon, a unique endurance event co-sponsored by the Daily Express of London and the Daily Telegraph of Sydney.

The author of this book, Nick Brittan, and his wife Jenny were amongst the unlucky ones who retired on the way, after hitting a horse, a patch of ice and a large truck.

But they carried on to Sydney, Nick hopping from control to control by plane to follow the action as it built up to an exciting climax in New South Wales. This, therefore, is more than a personal story. It is the story of a great motoring adventure shared by hundreds of people and supported by thousands more.
