Description

Author: Graham Robson, Hardbound, 256 Pages, H4103, ISBN: 9781844251032, First Edition, June, 2004 -  **VERY RARE BOOK IN EXCELLENT UNREAD CONDITION**

Between 1963, when it opened, and 2004, when it finally closed, no other UK-based motorsport operation inspired so many great competition cars. There was world-wide success, and Boreham provided fun, interest and excitement to millions of enthusiasts.

To everyone who bought a high-performance Ford, started competing in a Ford, or bought parts to make their Ford even faster, Boreham was the centre of their universe. Although the majority of Boreham's operations centred on World Championship rallying, there was also huge success on the race track.

The Escort, the RS200, the Sierra RS500 Cosworth and the Escort RS Cosworth all became legendary, as did drivers like Roger Clark, An Vatanen, Hannu Mikkola, Bjorn Waldegard, Carlos Sainz and Francois Delecour. Year after year, Boreham's 'works' teams took on the world, and often won.
To every Ford motorsport enthusiast, Boreham's closure was a shattering blow, almost like a death in the family. There had been great days, amazing achievements, and even a few puzzling bad days, but without Boreham's charismatic presence, Ford's motorsport operation might never have been as successful.

Over the years, author Graham Robson met all the personalities, talked to the drivers, drove many of the famous 'works' cars, and sometimes saw the birth of a new project.

He remains convinced that no other operation could have succeeded with such a huge variety of Fords, and that no other team could have inspired great competition and road cars like the Escort Twin-Cam, the RS200, the Escort RS Turbo, the Sierra RS Cosworth and the Escort RS Cosworth. From rear-wheel drive, to front-wheel drive, and then on to four-wheel drive, there was never a dull moment. The team at Boreham, it seemed, could do anything — superbly — and over the years Boreham made an unforgettable contribution to Ford's sporting image.

Graham Robson, a prolific and distinguished motoring author, has been a Ford motorsport enthusiast and Borehamwatcher for more than 40 years. His work with Ford has given him an 'inside track' on the behind-the-scenes stories of the Boreham motorsport centre, and no-one is
better qualified to write this important story.
