Description

Author: George H. Dammann, Hardbound, 352 Pages, ISBN: 9780912612041, Revised Edition, 1973 - Second-Hand book in excellent unread condition !

From the very first days of its inception when names like David Dunbar Buick, W.C. Durant, and Louis Chevrolet were talked about freely by those familiar with an infant but growing automobile industry; through intervening years filled with interesting and fascinating events to the present day, the proud past of a great automobile manufacturer remains to command the attention and respect of the automobile enthusiast and historian around the world.

In 1900 Detroit inventor David Buick found fascination with the internal combustion gasoline engine and began experimenting with them. Selling his plumbing fixture business for just under $100,000 he formed the Buick Auto Vim and Power Company to develop marine and stationary engines. It soon became apparent that Buick was more of an inventor than a businessman and his profits from the plumbing business were quickly eroded away.
