The Biographical A - Z of All Significant Ferrari Racing Drivers Engineers and Team Managers

Informative, descriptive, analytical, comprehensive and sometimes scurrilous, this compelling compendium of significant Ferrari people is essential reading for all enthusiasts of the greatest marque in motoring and motor racing history.

The heart of this book is an A-Z that presents biographies of more than 200 individuals who have made an important contribution to Ferrari's greatness over the years. Each and every biography, from Andrea de Adamich to Ugo Zagato, is fascinating, and they all come together to create a work of enormous breadth. Drivers form a major proportion of the coverage. Ferrari's eight Fl World Champions, of course, are here - Alberto Ascari, Juan Manuel Fangio, Mike Hawthorn, Phil Hill, John Surtees, Niki Lauda, Jody Scheckter and Michael Schumacher. Among the many British drivers featured are Cliff Allison, Derek Bell, Peter Collins, Nigel Mansell, Mike Parkes and Jonathan Williams. Much interest comes from the more obscure names, such as the Marzotto brothers - of whom there were four with a Ferrari connection!

Readers with a technical interest will be captivated by the stories of men like Luigi Bazzi, Giotto Bizzarrini, Giaocchino Colombo, Carlo Chiti, Mauro Forghieri, Aurelio Lampredi and Harvey Postlethwaite. There are team managers too - examples include Daniele Audetto, Cesare Fiorio, Franco Lini, Marco Piccinini and Romolo Tavoni. Coverage comes right up to the modern era, and in particular the names associated with the phenomenal success of the Schumacher years - they include Ross Brawn, Rory Byrne, Aldo Costa, Stefano Domenicali, Gilles Simon, Nigel Stepney and Jean Todt. There are names that are not readily categorised, such as Francesco Baracca (the flying ace from whom came the 'Prancing Horse' emblem), Colonel 'Ronnie' Hoare (Ferrari's famous British agent) and Dino Ferrari (Enzo Ferrari's only legitimate son). And there are even two women: Laura Ferrari (Enzo's wife) and Brenda Vernor (his PA).

This book provides an exceptional and very different angle on Ferrari by one of the marque's foremost experts. Anthony Pritchard has followed Ferrari history for over 50 years and has personally known many of the people in this book. He has written many books on motor racing subjects, and his last on a Ferrari, theme, Scarlet Passion, about the classic sports prototypes of the years 1962-73, was described by the Ferrari Owners' Club magazine as 'in the brilliant category'.
